US Civil War Model 1840 Ames Cabotville Heavy Cavalry Sword Saber-Dated 1851:

US Civil War Model 1840 Ames MFG Co. CabotvilleHeavy CalvarySword. The ricasso is marked \"Ames Mfg. Co.\" over \"Cabotville\" and \"1851\" on one side and \"US\" over \"A.D.K.\" on the other.The pommel cap is marked \"J.W.R.\", \"A.D.K.\", and \"11\". The grip is tight, missing 40% of the leather wrap andalmost all of the original wire wrap is gone, just a little remains by the pommel cap. Theblade is pitted, and has had something corrosive on both sides. The scabbard is solid, has 1 small 1/4\" slit near the throat, has a nice patina, and is lightly rusted by the drag. The leather washer is missing. Length of the blade is 35 3/4\" (1 1/4\" wide and 3/8\" thick), the sword is 41 1/4\", and in the scabbard it is 43 1/2\".
