US Civil War Model 1840N.P. Ames CabotvilleHeavy CalvarySword. The ricasso is marked \"N.P. Ames Cabotville 1845\".The grip is down to the wood, shows a few cracks, has a 1/2\" piece of wire wrap left and a very small piece of the leather. The pommel and knuckleguard are completely gone. Theblade was sharpened,pitting,and heavy rust but still in solid shape considering it was excavated on the Monocacy Junction battlefield.Length of the blade is 35 3/4\", the whole piece is 40 7/8\". Awesome Dug Relic! Perfect Wall Hanger!
