US M1863 Musket bayonet Springfield 1864 dated original rear sight Civil War:

For sale is a cut down barrel off a model 1863 musket. Dated 1864. VP and eagle proofs are visible as is the eagle on the drum. Rear sight in good condition. Bore shows some rifling. Nipple is missing, but looks like the threads are good. Could be restored.

Barrel measures 28 1/4 inches not including the breech plug tang.

I added a photo of the small mark behind the proofs. It\'s a small hole but has very little depth. I\'m not certain what this was for. I did notice the breech plug was loose so I pulled it out and added a photo of the marks on the rear of the barrel.

There is rifling through entire bore. Some pitting and dirt, but looks really good for 1864.
