This book is hard-bound in red cloth with gilt and black stamping to the upper cover and spine. The covers and spine are scuffed and soiled, with some faint damp-staining, which only affects the outer edge of the few pages at the very front and very rear. There is edge-wear and rubbing to the corners and spine-ends. There are a few tears to the lower joint. The hinges are cracked, with play in the covers. The text-block is loosening at a few places. The contents are bright and clean with illustrations throughout, including war photographs by Matthew Brady and some full page, color illustrated plates. Overall Rough exterior and loosening binding, with nice contents. Good for reading or reference.
