$510.00

Rare WW II Marine Corps, USMC Valor Bronze Star group for action as Squad Leader of a Demolition Team of the Seventh Marines, First Marine Division, during operations against Japanese Forces on Peleliu. This wasa brutal, hard fought battle against Japansese forces for an island that held significant strategic importance to America. The First Marine Division suffered tremendous casulties, 1,252 killed, 5,274 wounded or missing, while the Japanese fared far worse, with10,695 killed, and only 202 captured. The group has the original Navy/Marine Bronze Star, original letter signed by C.B. Cates, Commandant of the Marines, original Citation, signed by the Secretary of Navy, another letter from Marine Headquarters, sending him the Bronze Star. The group has the Corporal picture, named I.D.bracelet, ribbon bar and Good conduct medal. There is a original Australian made First Marine Patch, also his Dog Tag. This Marine Bronze Star was given for valor, the Marines did not give Bronze Stars out very freely. In fact, they turn up only very infrequently, I cannot remember the last time I saw one on ! The citation was for clearing mines under hostile fire, for troops to land safely on the beach. As you read the citation, you will come to ask yourselfwhy this wasn\'t at least a Silver Star. This is one very very rare and hard to find group with rare original citations and letters. Glass case is not included.
