This is a cruise book for the USS Manley DD-940, aUSSForrest ShermanDD-931class Destroyer.
This book chronicles the 1982 Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf cruise of the Manleywhere she patrolled these areas of operations toprotect US interest in those regions.

For those unfamiliar with cruise books, they are heavily illustratedhardbacks that detail one deployment in the life of a ship. Very similarto high school yearbooks, they often have nice pictures of the ship, crew andplaces they visited during the trip. They are a great reference for modelmakers, naval enthusiasts, or historians. Of course, for someone whoserved on a particular ship, they would be a great remembrance!

These books are becoming increasingly rare as the years go by, TheForest Shermanclass have allbeen decommissioned and either sunk as targets in Sinkex exercises\' orscrapped except for the USS Edson DD-946 and the USS Turner Joy DD-951 which have been preserved as memorial Museum ships. The USS Manley was decommissioned on March 4th 1983 and mothballed until stricken in June 1990 then sold for scrap in 1994.
