“Flag” Badge of a Soviet Merchant Ship Crewman, circa1940s-50s issue.

This is GUARANTEED ORIGINAL Badge, official issue of theStalin era, not a later issue or a replica!
The badge is Extremely well-made, in brass with nickel finish and high quality“hot-baked” red enamel. It measures 20 mm in width; the Flagpole is approx. 20mm tall. This is the early version of the badge with a screw attachment.

The badge is in GREAT condition! The enamel shows beautifulluster and has only tiny traces of wear, no chips, flakes, or rubbing. All theenamel is 100% original, there are no repairs. The screw post is full length,over 7.5 mm. The screw plate is a replacement, but it fits the screw well.

The badge was worn by Soviet merchant ship crewmen,especially those that were allowed to travel to foreign ports. The badge was tobe worn on lapel at all times so that its owner could be easily identified as aSoviet citizen. Of course this was to keep crewmen under control and make adefection more difficult!
