In a high security government hospital the recovery of Dr. Otto Octavius is being closely monitored. After months in a coma he begins to awaken. Meanwhile, everyone in Peter’s class is given the assignment to come to class and give a presentation as a super hero – they can pick any super hero mutant. Kong isn’t thrilled about the assignment and begins to wonder what the appearance of all these super heroes is some sort of “sign”. At that moment a new girl at school, by the name of Gwen Stacy offers her opinions on the subject and everyone is blown away by her beauty and intellect. Back at the government hospital Otto Octavius is regaining his strength and is demanding answers about his condition. Otto Octavius discovers that the explosion at Osborn Industries has fused his metallic arms to his body. He realizes he’s been reduced to a lab experiment and he becomes enraged. Octavius goes berserk he breaks out of the hospital killing several government employees in the process. Over at Harlan residence: While laying in his bed pondering his class assignment, Kong puts all the pieces together in his head and comes to the conclusion that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

\"The New World According to Peter Parker (Part I)\"

Six months after the events of Ultimatum, New York City is rebuilt, Peter Parker is now working at Burger Frog (a fast food restaurant) and Gwen Stacy is living with him again and they are dating.

That night, three thieves crash into a convenience store and held the owner at gunpoint in demanding for his money. However, they are then confronted by an unidentified vigilante in a red cloak. One of the robbers shoots the vigilante several times but that doesn\'t seem to hurt the individual. The vigilante easily and brutally subdues each robbers before Spider-Man, now revered by much of the city, arrives to find the vigilante gone. The police then arrives on the scene and tries to learn what has happened from both Spider-Man and the store owner, while the cloaked vigilante watches them on from the rooftops.

Later at the Parkers\' residence, an exhausted Johnny Storm arrives and greets Peter and Gwen, and passes out at the front door. Meanwhile, the Kingpin returns to Fisk Towers, now absolved of his past crimes (due to much of the evidence against him being lost in the Ultimatum Wave). Unexpectedly, Mysterio soon appears in his office and kills him by throwing him out of the building with his powers, sending Fisk to land several stories to the ground and onto a car. I mean, there\'s, like, a guy now who can walk on walls? What\'s that about? -- Gwen Stacy (First Appearance)
\"Confrontations\"

Kong \"Field Goal\" kicks Peter, thinking he would dodge it, attempting to prove he\'s Spider-Man.

Dr. Octopus breaks into his former home and murders the woman living there for seemingly unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Kong discusses with Flash and Liz about his suspicions of Peter Parker being Spider-Man. However, this suspicion quickly dissolves as Kong goes to test his theory by kicking Peter in the butt. Peter takes the hit to keep his secret identity in check. An angry Gwen steps in and threatens Kong with a switchblade and tells him to never do that to Peter again; however she is stopped by a teacher and sent home. Her father, Captain Stacy, hears of this during his investigation of the murder previously committed by Dr. Octopus. Ben Urich tries to get a few words with the police captain but is unfortunately brushed aside.

Gwen threatens Kenny, for hurting Peter, in \"Confrontations\".

Spider-Man confronts J. Jonah, in front of the Daily Bugle, in \"Confrontations\".

Later, Spider-Man is venting out some steam by taking out petty criminals and playing a friendly trick on his biggest “fan” J. Jonah Jameson.

At the Daily Bugle, Ben Urich presents the information about Dr. Octopus’ recent murder to Jameson and Robertson with Peter listening in. Elsewhere, Dr. Octopus is causing havoc and breaks into a skyscraper somewhere in the city.
