Well, the good old style north American kit companies have long been extinct. The pride of building your own is also passé or is it? Not if we can count on the Chinese. So... Here is from China a reissue of the radio kits of my childhoodwith modern IC technology!

Not so fast though. I have used my own brand Classikit I have hand painted them and translated tens of instruction pages from Chinese to English and French to no avail. Eventually I had to build 22 different radio models, taking pictures and drawing pictorials in the process of writing the assembly manuals. Great! Over 130 happy buyers within less than two years. They do not need to know how hard and painful it is to deal with chinese "exporters"... Something in their culture I guess...

The speaker has been glued or you can use 2 metal brackets and screws to secure it

Close to 80% of the kits I have bought on were missing some parts and about 20% were parts nearly impossible to replace! Beware of the cliché sentences, Here are just a few from some recent kits for sale:

Elaborate, contradictory and repetitive:

I looked in the parts bag and it looks like everything is there, although I did not inventory everything. It's possible something may be missing (but it doesn't look like it)…WOW!!

TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE ALL THE OTHER PARTS ARE INCLUDED BUT IT IS POSSIBLE OTHER STUFF MAY BE AMISS…

I can't guarantee that all parts are included but I am quite positive that everything is included...

FOR THIS KIT, I have spent all the time needed to make the inventory of the parts. So it doesn't just appear to be complete. It IS complete.

I will include copy of a letter to kit builders written by an Heathkit engineer in the seventies. Also you may want to" take" the surveys Heath and Allied Knight-Kit sent to their new customers; you will find Mr Noles'letterand both surveyspacked withyour new kit. Heathkit whom pioneered the concept of electronic kits and their advice will help kit builders and collectors alike.

Includedis a 14 page color guide featuring adequate instructions anddrawings, written in grammatically correct English. Itincludes illustrated advicesonhow to solder similar to the ads below!

Thealignment can be made without a generator; a method verysimilarto the Heathkit GR-1008 and 1009.Please see pictures.

(NOTE:However, our assembly instructions are not as thorough or ascomprehensive as the Heath manuals; no other kit manufacturer hasbeen able to match them)

Weuse 12 web sites to embed several FULL SIZE, detailed pictures in thebody of the description so you can literally «touch» what you arebuying. So, we do not accept returns of kits because they aretypically returned altered, damaged or with missing parts.
