Unique Antique Stain Glass Panel Rip Van Winkle 46.25 x 40.25 inches, ca 1920\'s /30’s
large panel of Rip Van Winkle from outer frame is 46.25\" x 40.25\", in side frame aprox. 42\" x 36\" . The weight was taken while packed, 68 pounds , I would say actual panel should be close to 55 pounds
Recently put In a solid oak frame.
No Restoration needed, Structurally sound ready for mounting
Looking close on viewing side is a strip of medal added for the purpose ofstructure support.It protrudes out running one side to the other along the top of mountain line. It seemed to be a common practice used in the past and are commonly found in vintage large antiquestain glass. (see picture). And the reason for it being onviewing side is because facing on the outside it would rust.
It was created by Maxine Barclay, silent film star, winner of some 20 beauty contests The story as told to me… she had retired from movie making early in her career when she married

The glass used by Maxine was from an old church in Texas which was torn down. Her granddaughter as a little girl recalls how she selected each piece of glass with loving care. The glass used I’m told is unique and nolonger made orobtainable through commercial outlets.
I soon learned that the lead overlay and the detail painting has become a lost art. Rip Van Winkle\'s face and hands, the barrel, the dog by Rip’s feet, the scroll and the writing are hand painted. Please note scroll and writing are in old English
