This is a vintage yellow bubble gum machine lamp. It is in fine working condition--the coin mechanism andgum ball release work very smoothly, and the light works as well.
The machine sits on a round wooden base, which is 10 1/2 inches across. It is 2 inches tall, and stained a dark brown. It is in good condition, as you can see from the pictures.
The metal body of the machine and the cap which screws onto the top of the clear glass globe are painted bright yellow--there is no fading of the paint, no rust on the machine anywhere. On the back, there is one very small chip of paint missing (see photo). Other than that, the whole piece is in excellent vintage condition.
The glass globe has some interesting striations, bubbles in the glass, and imperfections which lead me to believe that it is quite old. I\'m not an expert, but I know that more modern pieces do no have a handblown glass look to them, like this one. The inside could use a gentle cleaning.From top to bottom, thegum ball machine itself is 15 1/2 inches tall. The metal rod, from where it comes out of the base to the bottom of the harp, is 18 1/2 inches tall. From the bottom of the harp to the to of the finial is 11 1/2 inches. From the base to the to of the finial is 2 feet, 8 inches. Altogether it weighs 11 lbs., 11oz.
The silver gray metal rectangle that holds the \"crank\" in front of the machine is 4 inches by 3 3/4 inches, and acorn and oak leave design on it. There is some discoloration of the metal on this piece, which you can see in the pictures.
