Unusual Antique/Vintage Matchbook Holder/Case with Enamel, Mock Shagreen Finish:

This is an interesting and very nicely constructed hinged pocket matchbook case/holder. It has a gilded interior and enamelled exterior in the form of a shagreen finish and actually contains a Gucci matchbook, interesting although it is a little worn. It has little wings either side to grip the body of the matchbook and allow the cover to be lifted freely and it has a rather clever opening mechanism. There is a knack to opening it by squeezing the sides then it pops open, and closing it again requires a gentle squeeze - this needs a little practice! There is a little superficial wear on the sides as a result, but it is quite fascinating. and it makes the whole thing extremely slim. It is in very good condition with slight cosmetic wear and a little surface staining as shown, and it measures 2.25 x 1.75 inches overall.
