This is a current issue and apparently brand new US Congressional Coast Guard \"Gold\" Medal for Heroic Deed in Saving Life. It is full-sized and comes as you see. It is gold plated, rather than silver I believe, and is marked on the brooch pin G27, which I believe is GRACO. THis is an incredibly well-made medal, with superb design and detail. It actually has a swivel suspension, which is extremely rare in US medals. The suspension has an eagle\'s head that is extremely high relief, and in almost every way this exceeds the usual US medal design and production. It is comparable to the better British medals in quality and design.
What I have not been able to figure out is whether this is actually an issue medal, or a copy made by the authorized manufacturer.
