M1910 Mess Kit--RIA 1911

Original M1910 mess kit,aluminum construction with cast steel handle well marked U.S./R.I.A./1911 on end. Bottom pan is stampedR.T. WILSON/CO. I/159 INF. [40th Division, California National Guard]. Lid is engraved with the second owner\'s name and 682-PORI, indicating it was reissued for CCC use in the 1930s[CCC Company 682 was located at Camp Pori in the upper peninsula of Michigan andbecame a German POW camp during WW2]. Bottom pan is also engraved with his name as well.

Mess kit shows the usual wear [minor dents, scratches, etc.] from years of use, and the brass pull ring was replaced by an elongated steel wire ring at some point for ease in slipping over the handle for cleaning.A graphic example ofhow GI gear was reissued over and over for years. Nice piece for any collector of pre-WW1 gear or forMichigan/CCC historian and is in good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
