Description

Large French Art Deco OPALESCENT centerpiece bowl featuring Les Canards Sauvages (Wild Ducks) et Poissons (Fish) in swirling water. Signed in the mold \"Verlys France\". Verlys glass originated in France in 1931 as part of the Societe Anonyme Holophane Les Andelys. French Verlys was always signed in the mold with the word \"France\" included, as is the case with this example. It is truly an outstanding piece of art glass, not to be confused with pieces done by Verlys of America and other American reproducers. SIZE: Measures about 13 5/8\" in diameter and about 2 1/2\" high.MARKS: See close up photos of marks within the mold.CONDITION: Vintage item, nearing antique. No cracks or chips. In some lighting conditions, I can see a scratch in the interior of the bowl (see photo). I shot the photos on a black background so you can appreciate the beauty of the opalescence. The glass itself is not black. The last two photos of the bowl are upside down so you can see the depth of the molding. A very impressive piece which you will be proud to display.
