Listed this week is an amazing estate collection...a large variety of very old and rare pocket watches, mostly with beautiful Verge Fusee movements of the Georgian Era

Up for sale is aVERY FINE VICTORIAN C1867, \'JAMES GIBB’, SCOTLAND, FUSEE MOVEMENT, STERLING SILVER POCKET WATCH.

The key wind and set pocket watch runs.

It has not been tested for accuracy or length of run, but the watch wound well and is presently running as I list it.

These watches are all fresh from an estate collection, so to be safe for the sale, we always assume they may need a good cleaning or servicing to be keeping in full working order.

As shown in the photos, the fabulous Victorian era Scottish Fusee pocket watch has a near flawless white enamel dial with only a slight mark/crack above the #11 at the edge of the dial.The face is unmarkedwith bold black Roman Numerals and a seconds dial at the #6 position. The hands appear original and are in the Breguet Moon design.

The watch case is Sterling Silver, and has a well worn machined designed back cover with an unmonogramed crest. It is in very nice condition. The case in marked on the inside of the back cover, with the London city hallmark, Passant Lion and a date mark of c1867. The makers mark of“IH\" is also present, and most likely that of John William Hammon. The case number 4044 is also marked.

The hinged front bezel holds a slightly convex crystal in very nice condition. The bezel closes tightly as it should. The swing-out fusee movement exposes the inner case, which has similar markings to the inside back cover.

The beautiful swing-out Fusee gilt movement is in very nice condition and as stated is presently running.

It has a nicelydecorated bridge and a small rough cut diamond centered on the cock, and is marked“James Gibb, Strathanen”, along with the serial # 4044. (…which is the same as the sterling case number). The movement appears clean with round Baluster Pillars.

The watch also has a very nice silver toned watch chain (about 10” in length) as shown, along with a winding key.

The pocket watch has an overall measurement of approximately 52mm wide by 18mm thick. The dial measures about 46mm in diameter.

This is a very nice Victorian Fusee pocket watch.
