VERY NICE OLD ANTIQUE CHINESE TROUSSE EATING SET DAGGER KNIFE WITH PURSE :

Being offered is a nice and unusual Chinese trousse or eating set. This one is unusual for the size. It measures 7 3/4\" in total length when measured in its scabbard. The other unusual feature is the silk(?) purse attached. Given its size and quality may have been carried by an important lady or perhaps young girl. The grip consists of 2 slabs of bovine bone attached via 3 rivets on each side. One side of the grip slab has some unevenness from slight loss but still holds firm. The mounts on the handle appear to be nickel silver or a higher content silver alloy like coin silver. The handle mounts with fine decorations. The blade is very well forged, very sharp and has a fuller for most of its length. Acutely shaped tip with original contours. The blade has a nice grayish color with some surface scratching evident. Upon very close examination some lamination visible. 2 small chopsticks which show wear and use and might have lost a fraction of the original length evidenced by the squared off tips. The top of the handles decorated with lines. The scabbard is lovely. The wooden core has a upper and lower mount of the nickel or coin silver with the center section of exposed wood. Probably rosewood. The silver mounts extensively decorated with symbols and other decorations. A lot of detail in these mounts. Attached to the scabbard is a wonderful silk(?) purse. It is beautifully fanned with sewed on decorations. A few loose threads but overall in great condition. Also includes a red and green tassle. All in all a very lovely and rare trousse given its size and attached purse. Please e-mail with any questions.
