VERY RARE 19th Century Ceramic Advertising Tobacco Humidor JAR Neuwied (Germany). Possibly made by Mettlach. Dimensions: 8\" tall with lid (about 6\" to top of jar), about 7\" widthWeighs 3 lbs & 3 ozJohaan Peter Schneider (proprietor)Established 1811 (this jar could be early to mid 19th century?)Lid has recessed area to hold sponge or wet materialBeautiful inset design around jar and lid. See JOH on paper seal image on rolled strand Tobacco. Translation of words on the front to English are Chopped Rolling Tobacco and includes company and city information and founded 1811 on lid.
