Description: White, Smith & Company was established as a music publishing company in 1874. Charles A. White was a composer and author of over a thousand songs. He was among the earliest songwriters to establish a successful music publishing company. In 1890, White, Smith had expanded to nine branch offices and become one of the largest music publishing firms in the country. Included in this vintage lot are two books by Carl Czerny who was an Austrian composer, teacher and pianist whose vast musical production amounted to over one thousand works. His books are still widely used in piano teaching.
Condition: These vintage books are in overall good condition. The covers show some wear and one tear (see pictures). The inside pages are in good condition with no tears, no creases, no dog eared corners, and no loose or missing pages. The staple bindings are solid. Note: the page edges show some wear, and there are pencil marks on many of the songs dated 1929 and 1930 (see pictures).
