This pipe was purchased from the great grandson that inherited it from his great grandfather and passed down to him. Now for the details:This pipe is depicting a hunting scene that features 2 men on horses that are hunting a lion which is laying his back as it is being attacked by a dog with the hunter aiming his gun, ready for the kill. The 2nd rider is on the backside of the pipe for backup. Each of these 2 horses with rider are about 4 3/4" tall and 5" to 5 1/4" long while the lion is about 3 1/2" long and the dog over the lion is about 2 3/4" long. The entire circumference is quite large for a pipe.This pipe has great detail and is a total length of about 14 1/2" to end of the stem that is done in the typical amber tone and made of a plastic or bakelite material.The bowl of the pipe is about 1 1/8" in diameter for the actual hole and outer diameter of bowl is about 1 5/8". Height from bottom of pipe to top of bowl is apprx. 5 1/4".There are some minor age cracks of which I have tried to show and none of them are as dark as the photos make them look. Most of these are on the underside of where the lion lays extending toward the stem end till where there is the first amber band.There is also a couple very light and tight cracks on the horse hind quarter area of the hunter that holds the gun.The lion also has a very minor light and tight crack of not much notice.The only other minor issue is that the amber stem piece was a screw type piece and has gotten stripped with age so it is loose and would need gluing or other minor repair which was quite common for these old pipes.I have also checked for pieces of the actual carving that are gone or damaged and I did not really see anything unless it\'s something very minute that I might have missed.It comes with the original case but has split into 2 pieces and also has lots of outer wear but still protects the pipe quite well.I have provided lots of photos and please look closely as there is so much detail to this carved piece that you just won\'t find another as nice for what I believe is a 19th century pipe.If you have questions, feel free to call me at 989-284-2860 or 989 -792-7064, Saginaw, Michigan.
