Original: Civil War Pennsylvania & New Jersey antique map. This authentic vintage map of comes from Johnson\'s New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World. Published by Johnson and Ward No. 113 Fulton Street New York in 1864. The Family Atlas was first published by Johnson in 1860 and continued until 1870. This one of a kind old map and has vivid coloring including the famous Johnson bordering. This historic map is truly a fine example printed near the end of the American Civil War. This map would make a nice addition to any collection or a beautiful true authentic antique map gift. The total paper size for this map is approximately 18\" x 26\"., Coltons General Atlas was published by the firm of Johnson & Browning, and the next year he published the first edition of his own atlas, titled, Johnson\'s New Illustrated Steel Plate Family Atlas, With Descriptions Geographical, Statistical and Historical. The early editions of the Family Atlas, as it is most commonly referred to, was comprised of maps developed by the Colton firm, and the title page announces that the publishers, Johnson & Browning, are formerly successors to J.H. Colton and Company However, rather than successor, Johnson became a competitor of the Colton firm, and the Family Atlas became a competitor to the atlases of both Colton and S. Augustus Mitchell, the other prominent atlas publisher of the day.- ref. Johnson Map Project.
