VERY RARE VINTAGE LLADRO PORCELAIN CHESS SET :

Very rare vintage Lladro of Spain Porcelain Chess Set, 1996, in mint condition. This was a very limited edition. Lladro is pronounced \"yardrow\".The pieces of one side are pure white; those of the oppositeside are pale gray. Both kings and queens are dressed in medieval costumes. TheIssue year for this series is 1996. The sculptor is Juan Ignacio Aliena. Thoughcreated in the twentieth century, thesedesigns are influenced by thestyle of Europe’s Mannerist period (c. 1520–1600). Thepaintings of El Greco and other Spanish Mannerist artists featured people withelegant, unusually long bodies with long necks, arms, and legs—allcharacteristics typical of Lladro figurines. The King stands 6-3/4” tall. There is not a board.
This set is displayed in chess collector books. It appears in multiple locations in the book \"Chessmen for Collectors\" by Victor Keats.
