THE SILVER PLATING ON THIS PIECE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION BUT PLEASE SEE PHOTOS FOR YOUR OWN SATISFACTION ON CONDITION.IT IS 11 1/2\" TALL.THE JAR HAS NO CHIPS, NICKS, FLAKING OR STAINING. THE LID FITS PERFECTLY. THE FORK IS OF THE SAME PERIOD AND MARKED, \"1847, ROGERS BROS.\".HALLMARKED ON THE BASE OF THE FRAME WITH THE FAMOUS SIMPSON HALL MILLER LOGO.QUADRUPLE PLATED AND VERY STURDY.Cranberry glass is made with real gold.Whether very old or manufactured yesterday, Cranberry glass (called \"gold ruby\" in Europe) is one of the most difficult forms of elegant glassware to produce. This highly desirable collectible, named for it\'s resemblance in color to a glass of cranberry juice is achieved by adding a gold chloride to hot molten red glass. It is a delicate blown glass and is made by both free-blown and mold-blown methods. The process is painstaking, requiring the skills of a master glass craftsman to execute successfully. The results are beautiful and pieces with age are highly sought by collectors world wide. True cranberry is produced one piece at a time. This is due to the high cost of gold and delicate mixing process required.
