Here\'s a lovely Victorian era telescopingmechanicalpencil in STERLING SILVER. The pencil measures 4-5/8\" fully extended and about2-5/8\" fully retracted. The only mark found on the pencil is STERLING on the ringjust below the extended pencil mechanism. The 2\" barrel isdecorated with spiraling panel of relief decoration, probably organically inspired, and separatedby raised lines. There are four such panels. The pencil is extended by pulling the endball on the handle extension which cleanly extends the pencil mechanism. Thehandle extension is lined andhas a tiny unused monogram box. The pencil mechanism extends lead very smoothly and currently has afull length (maximum for the pencil)of .046\"or 1.1mm diameter leadinstalled. Theballat the end of the handle extension has some very minor, tiny dents around its circumference, but otherwise the pencil appears in perfect condition. The pencil is unmarked as to origin, but is likely either English or American.
