VINEGAR VALENTINE - vintage Victorian Era mean joke greeting by Charles Howard. Also know as Penny Dreadfuls (not to be confused withVictorian Era pulp fiction), because they cost one penny and were anonymous jabs. RARE image of an older woman dressing too youthfully.

Original color lithograph valentine with its original creases (folded in half and then in threes). Sharp corners and crisp color with a bit of toning of the cream colored paper. \"H\" initial at lower right is how Charles Howard signed his work. Dimensions of the sheet are 9-5/8\" x 7-1/8\". No writing or envelope.
