This is very pretty, a gorgeous genuine Whitby jet stone bead necklace having hand cut large geometrical whitby jet beads that are spaced with large round whitby jet beads. Looking closely at the beads with a jewellery loop you can clearly see a natural grain to the beads and the beads have also passed the streak test, leaving clearly a dark brown mark when rubbed on unglazed porcelain similar to the back of a ceramic tile. The beads are strung on black cord thread which needs restrung and the necklace is long length. It measures 26 inches circumference and the beads measure up to 17 mm wide. The central bead has the addition of a loop for a pendant and I can imagine that there would have been a large mourning whitby crucifix or mourning locket, sadly this is missing but the beads are complete, superb, rare and Very pretty......well worth a offer.
