Thisis the 92nd book that Ihave created and sold—several have been sold off of —several were specialorders also, so there are no references for them.

This Betsy adventure begins with a Table ofContents that describes each of the 8 sections.

Tab A of this sale of a UNIQUERESOURCE NOTEBOOK begins with Betsy McCall—The Paper Doll and HerHistory. This section iscomprised of the notes I used to present the history and trends of the McCallsMagazine Betsy paper dolls to my Doll Club.Covered are her ancestors, family and friends; description of her home, her activities and family dynamics; Betsy authors and artists; being a vehiclefor advertising; creativity for children through the paper doll; and activitiesand travels.

ALSO, Betsy Mc Callbegan as a paper doll in the McCall’s June 1951 magazine and was used toadvertise little girl’s factory-made clothing and clothing from McCall’s sewingpatterns. She quickly became amuch-loved and anticipated feature of each magazine! Tab A also contains a list of the titlesof all of the Betsy paper dolls in McCall’s magazines produced from June 1951 –Sept 1995 and other magazines up to 2010. Some of the vintage and Tonner outfits were made to match anoutfit on a paper doll page. Theseoutfits are listed with the associated paper doll page—perhaps you will want todisplay the outfit with the page! Thereis also a page that lists the dates different mail-in cardboard McCall’s familypaper dolls were produced and several others including paper dolls on RobertTonner brochures.

For your first paper doll, included is an original page of the February 1967 paper doll: “BetsyMcCall, Sculptress”. Thestory tells about Betsy making a sculpture of her dog, Nosy. It had to be folded due to its size.

PLUS:

Tab B starts with a list of all of the Betsy McCall, Family and Friends dollsmade and licensed by the McCall’s Corporation from 1952-2004. Following this list are descriptions of EACH Betsy doll(plus family and friends), along with pictures of many, created from the firstdoll in 1952. I added pictures of my dolls for eachdescription that I could. However, I didn\'t want to infringe on copyrightlaws, etc. in the Resource Notebooks that I sell, so I didn\'t copy picturesfrom the internet or from reference books to fill in for dolls that I do notown. I have copied pictures from these outlets to complete thedescriptions in my own Betsy McCall Resource Book copy. Feel free to dothe same for your own. Hopefully this will prove to be agood resource for you to use in your search for the elusive history of theever-popular Betsy McCall.

PLUS:

Tab C: Withall of the MANY different outfits (and their various versions) that were madefor the American Character 8” – 20” Betsy Mc Call dolls in the years between1957-1963, do you ever wonder exactly what you need to have a complete set anda way to keep track of when they were complete? Included are pages of each outfit for the AmericanCharacter 8”, 14”, and 20” Betsy McCall doll. These lists have been compiled mostly from Marci Van Ausdall’s BetsyMcCall Guide Book, Lisa Heno’s Betsy’s Wardrobe, A ClothingIdentification Guide for the 8” Betsy McCall, and also from MIB items seenon , a couple of rare original items that I have received (confirmed byothers) and info. from Betsy long-time collectors. You will receive 10 pages with eachoutfit and every variation along with its stock number (ifavailable). These pages can be used tokeep a personal inventory of each clothing and accessory item that youhave. If you use a highlighter marker (included in this sale) to mark each item as youfind it, items still needed will be easy to see and to add to your ‘shoppinglist’. As an outfit is completed, yourinventory page will show ‘all yellow or other highlighter color’ for thatoutfit/version.

Do you wish that you had an efficient way to label your 8”Betsy outfits? ALSO included (in theback pocket of the notebook) are the same outfits for the 8” Betsy doll printedon 8 peel-and-stick pages. For my collection, I have each outfit labelstuck on the clear zip lock bag that holds the outfit. I have included onezip lock baggie, but of course, you will need to use the right sizeof baggie for each outfit. This size isgood for a dress without a big hat. Iput the label on the same corner of each baggie for consistency.

ALSO, do you ever wish that all of the accessory itemsfor the 8” Betsy McCall were spread out in table form to help answer questionslike: “How many different pairs ofwhite taffeta panties DO I need anyway?!”

The set of pages (separate tab in Tab C) complies each 8” Betsy accessoryin table form for you to use as a quick reference to actually seeHOW MANY of each color of shoe, panty, sandal, or other accessory you need tocollect if you are trying for ALL of the vintage 8” Betsy’s outfits.

You can do as I do, and use a highlighter marker to indicateeach item by outfit name that you already have, then highlight it as it ispurchased.
