Up for sale is this vintage, framed oil painting by Carl Sammons. Please excuse the glare in the photos. The locale depicted in this impressionist painting is the Bow River. Rugged, snow-capped mountains are in the distance; forests flank the river in the foreground. The board measures approximately 16 inches by 12 inches. The visible art area is approximately 15 5/16 inches by 11 5/16 inches. This has a gold-finished, wooden frame; the gold finish has an interesting crackle texture. The exterior frame measurements are approximately 20 1/16 inches by 16 1/16 inches. Unpacked, it weighs about 2 3/4 pounds. This would make a great addition to a collection of vintage western fine art.Identification
The painting is signed at the lower left, \"CARL SAMMONS.\" On the back, the following is written, \"BOW RIVER MONTANA.\" Carl Sammons (1883-1968) is a well-known, American artist with listings on AskART, and in Edan Hughes\' Artists in California 1786-1940, etc. Per Hughes, Sammons was born in Kearney, Nebraska. He worked as a sign painter in Sioux City, Iowa before moving to northern California in 1913. He lived in Oakland, California while studying at the California School of Fine Art. Sammons traveled throughout California and the western United States, creating plein air oil paintings along the way. He passed away in Oakland in 1968. His paintings have been widely exhibited, both during and after his lifetime.Condition
This piece looks very good overall. Within the blue water area of the painting (just below the center), there is a small, roundish varnish area with a yellowed outline; this is subtle, but it can be seen in the second photo. The frame has very light wear. Please review the photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to offerding or buying. TERMS OF SALE (the not fun but unfortunately necessary fine print) 1. Sales Tax

The resale certificate must be properly filled out in accordance with California Board of Equalization regulations. No exceptions. 2. Payments
The buyer must prepay before merchandise is released. Paypal payments over $250 will only be accepted if delivery is to an address with a confirmed status. A signature will be required for delivery if the total Paypal payment for merchandise inside the parcel is greater than $250. Contact the seller in advance of offerding or buying to find out about accepted payment methods for local pick-ups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. 3. Shipping and Handling
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller typically ships on Mondays and Thursdays, unless a holiday or special circumstance precludes it. If payment is via Paypal, the merchandise will be shipped on the seller\'s next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier. Economy shipping within the U.S. includes delivery to a physical address via an economy shipping method of the seller\'s choice. At the discretion of the seller, a faster shipping method may be utilized at no additional cost to the buyer. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping and handling costs may be required. In the above instances, the seller is happy to provide shipping quotes upon request. If international shipping is available, this will be indicated on the "Shipping and Payments" tab.
