About 10 years ago I bought a bunch of these tiles at anestate sale in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. At one time, I had about 40 of them. I have sold them off one or two at a timeover the years. I am listing all that Ihave left. All I know about them is whatI was told when I bought them – that they had been part of a fireplace façadein an old mansion in the valley. Theyseem to have an Asian or Middle Eastern influence. They are thick and heavy pottery that looksalmost like old cement. They wereheavily glazed – in fact, on some off them you will note heavy gobs of glaze onthe edges. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTOSCAREFULLY! These are old and show it. Most have crazed glaze. Some have chips and some have finecracks. They are solid – not in theleast bit “crumbly.” They make nice“objets de art” displayed on a wall or a plate stand.
