Beautiful \"Jean Louis Scherrer\"silk crepe and metallic lace evening dress.

Made in Paris, France1980\'s.

Lace bodice and sleeves are lined a crinkle silk chiffon. The silk crepe wrapped sarong skirt is self lined and has a attached (hand-stitched), draped silk swag.

The long sleeves have silk crepe covered buttons and silk crepe button loops.

Large shoulder pads are hand-stitched onto shoulder seams. (can be removed if desired)

24\" long zipper is hand-stitched onto the back of the dress.

The bodice inside seam extends beyond the waist seam, forms into a stay and attaches with a hook/eye. (see photos)

Excellent condition. There is a 1 1/2\" split in the lace on left side of the bodice.

There isn\'t a size tag. Please go by the dress measurements.

\"Born in Paris,[2]Scherrer trained as a dancer at theConservatoire de Parisuntil he injured his back, which put him out of action for three months.[1]He then decided to focus on fashion design, and in 1956, joinedChristian Dioras an assistant designer alongsideYves Saint Laurent.[1]Following Dior\'s death in 1957, Scherrer worked under Saint Laurent, and then forLouis Féraud,[2]before launching his own fashion house in 1962 on theRue du Faubourg Saint-Honoréwith the backing of Jacques Chabrol, a French millionaire.[2][1]

In the mid-1960s Scherrer had an agreement with the American department storeBergdorf Goodmanto grant them exclusive rights to reproduce and resell his designs in the States.[2]His clients includedAnne-Aymone Giscard d\'Estaing,Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, andRaquel Welch, who wore Scherrer animal-print dresses in the 1977 filmL\'Animal.[2]By the 1980s, his work was known for its opulence and luxury, with many garments hand-beaded, embroidered and lavishly trimmed.[1]
