This sale is for a vintage four piece Heddon #13 9’ split bamboo fly rod. There is a Heddon inscription and a #13 – 9’ 2 1/2f HCH or D inscription. All of the sections measure 36 ½”. There is a serial number on the reel seat band. I would estimate it would match with a five-six weight fly line.
The 6 ¾” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section which have been professionally rewrapped. There are five snake eye guides on each tip section and an agate stripper guide on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. One tip section is not original to the rod. There is a natural set which will not affect the casting of the rod.
I meticulously stripped the old varnish, refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are gorgeous. This classic Heddon rod would be a treasured wand on any stream or river and will make an awesome addition to any collection
