FACETED SOMMERSO GLASS VASE

Presenting an exceptional vintage Italian Murano faceted sommerso
art glass vase produced by a master Italian glass artist circa 1950s.

Two exquisite sommerso layers of vibrant colour float within the sparkling lead
crystal form which has been exquisitely cut to form faceted geometric faces.

A layer of amber brown forms the central core surrounded by a halo of golden
yellow, both colours encased within the thick crystal clear walls of the vessel,
forming magnificent arcs of radiant colour suspended sommerso style within.

Each face of the crystal has been cut to form exquisite
geometric shaped faceted sides producing fabulous
clean angular lines and beautifully bold, prism faces.

The bold, modernist geometric faceted faces contrast spectacularly with the
sleekly curved interior of the vase and the radiant arcs of colours encased within.

The thick crystal walls act as a lens, creating exquisite distortions and
reflections of light, and magnifying and intensifying the warm earthy colours within.
The exquisite colours radiate throughout the vessel, refracting of the faceted
faces spectacularly and combining to form striking colour combinations.

This exquisite piece is unsigned, but retains its original silver foil
label to the side. The label is rather worn, making the lettering quite hard
to decipher. \"Made in Murano Italy\" can be made out amongst the lettering.
It is almost certain this fine example was made by the legendary Mandruzzato, arguably one of the most daring and innovative glass artists of the period.
There is no doubting this is an exceptionally well made and beautifully
finished vintage piece created by a Master Italian glass artist.

This superb piece is presented in exceptional vintage condition
with no chips, cracks or repairs. This is amongst the finest examples
we have seen, with none of the usual nibbles to the faceted edges, which
remain lovely and crisp. There is one exceptionally small, light and fine surface
scratch to one face, noticeable only on extremely close examination and
easily polished out but mentioned for complete accuracy. This exceptional
piece has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.

This piece has been very well finished with a quality flat ground polished base.

This impressive piece stands approx 205mms tall and measures 80mms in
diameter. This substantial pieces weights 1090 grams unpackaged.

This stunning piece would make an outstanding addition
to any Mandruzzato, Italian Murano, Sommerso, vintage
art glass, retro or mid 20th century design collection!
