A complete vintageshamisen from the 1950\'s. The two part neck, pegs, as well as box are made of an exotic rosewood using an intricate mortise and tenon joinery (see pictures 5 & 6). The tuning pegs are made of genuine antique \"tusk\" (check out enlarged photo 8 & 9). Overall length is 37 1/2\" (95 cm) with a box 8\" x 7 \" x 4\" (20.3 x 18 x 10 cm) and a neck width of 7/8\" at the top (2.3 cm). This type of instrument has been used for hundreds of years in Japan.

This shamisen was owned 65 years ago by Yamaura Masaru (see picture 10).

Both top and bottom skins are playable and in very fine condition. This shamisen comes with extra string sets ,koma (bridge) (see picture 10) and the cushion (see picture 4).
