VINTAGE LAOS TAI LUE BLANKET COVER TEXTILE:

VintageLaos blanket cover textile. Early 20thcentury? From my research, this is a \"PahLop,” which is a Tai Lue mattress cover cloth from Udomxay, Laos.Very soft floppy handle.

Lowerportion is two halves sewn together with a base of natural cottonwith tan and indigo embroidery. Upper portion is a natural cottonplain weave of two halves. They may have been two long halvesoriginally. The layout is correct, but the upper plain weave wasmaybe reattached or replaced. All the seams seem to be machinestitched. All of the yarn seems to be hand spun cotton. Sides areselvages with one unfinished end of macrame fringes. Top and bottomof panels are cut and sewn under.

Goodcondition for age.There is some staining and some fading. I have not tried to clean it.There is one area where the warps are missing approx. 5/8” x5/8”(See photograph 4.). There is a small hole in the naturalcotton plain weave. There are a couple of broken threads near thefringe(See photographs 6 and 7.). There is some wear to theembroidery(See photograph 5.). Seephotographs, which were taken outdoors on a cloudy day without aflash.
