Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver Brooch Amethyst Signed Pin Taxco 1930s-1940s For Sale
VINTAGE MEXICAN STERLING SILVER BROOCH AMETHYST SIGNED PIN TAXCO 1930s-1940s SIGNED VOV
I love this amethyst bow brooch & I know you will too! Handmade sometime before 1948, and signed VOV, it's a fine example of the work of the old period Mexican silversmiths. Classically Mexican in style, it combines the elements of the highest quality silver & silver work, along with a large round amethyst cabachon, which was the most popular stone in the glory days of the Mexican Silver Renaissance, & still to this day. The design reflects the influence of the early masters William Spratling & Hector Aguilar. The absence of the eagle assay & the simple hallmarks of this vintage piece dates it to before 1948. Much of the silver used in the early Renaissance was higher purity than 925 (92.5%), and the shiny gleam hints that it may be 940 silver or higher. An important piece for your Mexican silver collection, or a wonderful gift!

Most of the pieces in my line are vintage and/or handmade, so some may show age-related tarnish, wear or patina. These pieces, crafted with love, may also reflect signs of handmade work such as tool marks or less than "perfect" symmetry. This in no way negatively affects the quality or character of the piece. Each one is different; that's what makes them so special! MOST pieces are vintage so please expect vintage, not new, condition. Please examine the photos closely; read the descriptions & conditions carefully & ask questions prior to offerding. I want you to be 200% satisfied!
