This is a very nicely carved and painted wooden \"spirit figure\" hand-carved by the Kuna Indians of Panama. It stands about 15\" tall including its base, with the figure just shy of 13 1\'2\" tall. The base and figure are carved from a single piece of wood. The figure is a woman dressed in traditional Kuna dress, with a mola figure depicted on the front and back of her blouse. She has painted-on wristlets and ankle bracelets that would be made of beads in real life. Her head and hair are covered with a red-colored painted scarve with a pattern of moons and suns on it. This is a largeand attractivehand-carved ethnic figurine in very good condition for its age.
