The San Jacinto Mountains, pictorially very similar to the San Bernardino Mountains around Big Bear Lake, was home to the Garner Ranch, originally begun by Charles Thomas in the 1860\'s. The ranch gained its current name when Robert F. Garner Sr. purchased the ranch in 1905. The Garner family has held title to the cattle property ever since, running through Robert F. Garner Jr. and Jack Garner. The property covers almost 10,000 acres of meadows and hills. The main features of the ranch during the filming years was the white ranch house with covered veranda on the front as well as several outbuildings and barns and corrals.
