There is a “The Umpqua” inscription. All of the sections measure 34 ½”. I would estimate the fly line weight at a five.
Umpqua rods were made by Heddon for an outside company. There was a series of rods with the Umpqua name.
The 5 ¾” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section (two have been professionally rewrapped), five on each tip section and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a very slight natural set in the tip sections which will not affect the casting or use of the rod.
I meticulously stripped the old varnish, refinished with four coats of varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The light flamed brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are spectacular. This classic rod has the traditional bamboo cane casting action. Wait until your try it! This gorgeous rare rod would be a welcome addition to any collection and will no doubt increase in value over time.
