VINTAGE ROBERT ALLISON (RA) GLASGOW SCOTLAND CELTIC STERLING CLOAK / KILT BROOCH:
$75.00

This is a classic Robert Allison of Iona sterling cloak / kilt penannular brooch from 1952? (I am not seeing anything that ), This brooch is strongly influenced by Alexander Ritchie designs. Purchased in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts at a tiny basement hospital thrift shop (run by sweet little older ladies) around the corner from the Massachusetts College of Art. Marked with a single \"RA\" and four worn, separate hallmarks on reverse: The Glasgow town mark of an oak tree/bird/fish w/ bell, a prancing lion, a thistle and a shallow, and lastly a mark that looks like \"OL\" (w/ an underscore below the \"o) or it could be an Old English, fancy \"U\". I have reviewed ALL the Glasgow hallmarks I could find, and nothing resembles the last hallmark. There is also a curious hand-etched marking just below the hallmarks that looks like: \"547OYl\" followed by what looks like a backwards \"E\", then a forward slash, then another backwards \"E\". This brooch is in good, strong condition with a wonderful patina in the recessed portions.
