ALITTLE HISTORY- Hoffner opened his business in 1951 in the small town of Sandizell, Germany, which today is the town of Schrobenhausen.The company\'s artistic talent was capable ofworking porcelains in the Dresden style, andfrequently they are misidentified as Dresden.

THE LISTED FRAMED PORCELAIN - This is a wonderful decorative porcelain and it isfree ofany damage. Often these are found with some of the very delicate pieces broken. The porcelain itselfhas a little \"play\"inside the frame, but the backing is securely fixed, and there is no danger in it coming loose from the frame. Thegilt frame measures 11 1/2\" x 13 7/8\" x 2.\" There are a few small areas on the frame with paint loss, but these are easily touched up. Please usethe \"zoom\" feature to see the incredible detail in this work. The high relief 3-D porcelain measures 7\" x 9 1/4\" inside the borders of the frame { sight view }. The framed work weighs 4.6 pounds. On the back of the frame is an interesting storyabout the inspiration for this art. It is written in German, English, and French. The title is \"Szene from the Castle-Park of Sassouci.\" Following that it reads; The pastoral plays, performed in the castle-parks of the Roccoco, were a favourite amusement for grandes Dames and Cavaliers. They were part of the abundance of the Roccoco and of the happy century.

Also on the back is twice stamped the Hoffner & Co., trademark. This mark shows a crown over the town name, Sandizell, an \"S\" imposed over an \"H,\" and \"Germany\" at the bottom. This particular mark was used by the company from 1951 until 1960. A sticker is at the very bottom of the back that reads \"ALT MEISSEN ART.\" This refers to the Meissen porcelain manufactory, which was the first and leading European manufactory in the 18th century, and produced from its founding until 1863 at Albrechtsburg Castle, in Meissen. The factory has gone through many changes over the years, including ownership by the State in the GDR. Meissen porcelain has long been, and remains the worlds leading porcelain manufactory.
