An awe inspiring solid silver, gold gilt, enamel and bejeweled example of the highest vintage quality dating from the late 1940s/early 1950s. This is Karl Griesbaum at his finest and most opulent.

This style Karl Griesbaum singing bird box rarely comes to market and there is only one other currently for sale anywhere in the world.

This singing bird box is in the form of a diminutive cathedral style singing bird cage. The solid silver and gold gilt cage weighs 2 pounds, 12 ounces and was entirely crafted by the skilled hands of a master silversmith, jeweler and enamel artist. Please zoom in on the HD quality photos so you can see the quality of the intricately crafted cage, engravings and enamel panels. The exterior of the cage is adorned with amethysts and the interior is set with an emerald, amethyst and coral stone. The cage measures 7.5 inches tall excluding the finial, 9.25 inches tall including the finial and 4.125 inches wide at the octagon base.

The gold embedded cobalt blue enamel panels are perfect without any damage or repair of any kind. Atop the cage underneath the finial are turquoise colored enamel petals. There is one very tiny hairline on one of the petals near the finial that is difficult to notice but I always disclose any enamel imperfections regardless of how trivial.

Equally important for a bird box where the bird is always seen is the quality of the bird itself. This bird is exceptional and boasts a plethora of rainbow colored iridescent hummingbird feathers. The iridescent feather sheen presents itself differently as the bird animates.

I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated)the original Karl Griesbaum mechanical movement so this singing bird box operates perfectly with exceptional animation and an incredibly strong bird song.

Buyer\'s note: notice the tiny wire braided legs on the bird -allKarl Griesbaum singing bird box birds have wire braided feet. If the bird does not have these feet, the original bird has been replaced and possibly the mechanism as well . More than 75% of the Karl Griesbaum singing bird boxes offered for sale do not have the original bird or original mechanical movement and unfortunately, not all sellers disclose this fact to potential buyers.

The bird animates perfectly as follows: wings flap up/down, beak opens/closes, tail flutters up/down, bird turns left/right all the while singing to a beautiful oscillating bird song that is synchronized to the bird animation.
