Up for sale is this lovely,Native American Artisan created,sterling silver and turquoise feather pendant.
The stamped hallmark on the back is AY,which corresponds to that found in the Native American Hallmarks Book for Arthur Yazzie.The Yazzie Family are famous for their Native American Jewelry.It weighs 6.1 total grams.
The stone is a beautiful Robin\'s Egg Blue,and looks like it could be Sleeping Beauty Turquoise,but that is just a best guess.
The truth about nearly all turquoiseis that unless YOU took it out of the mine YOURSELF,you simply can not know for sure from which mine it originated, HA!
The displayed box is included however NO chain comes with the pendant,I mainly used the box for photographic process.
* * * * Here is a quick HEADS-UP in caring for vintage turquoise jewelry ....NEVER SUBMERGE them in water!
The artisan technique used in the jewelry design for cushioning the stone,both while mounting it into the bezeland as a precaution against impact,was to use SAWDUST in the setting beneath the stone.
That means if it is submerged in water thenthe sawdust will swell from the liquid,which may push the stone upwards, loosening the stone from the bezel,or possible even eject a smaller stone from its bezel entirely. So treat it with care! * * *
