Today we arefeaturing a Vintage1980’s Wedgwood Collectibles Pink Jasperware Vanity Dresser Trinket Box. This gorgeouspink Jasperware covered trinket box - done in a kidney bean shape and decoratedw/stunning neoclassical off white relief, the top depicts the \"Watering of Bellaphon\" on top, whilethe sides show are of \"BacchanalianBoys”. Pink Jasperware was made for a brief period in the mid-to-late1980\'s. Measurements: This lovely treasure is 3\" wide by 2.75\" deepby 2\" tall. Condition: Like new with no wear or damage. Thereis some minor surface wear along the bottom edge that is not visible when theitem is setting on a tabletop. Item displays well. Jasperware is a verydistinctive type of stoneware with ivory/marble-looking appliques of Greek andRoman classical design on a blue, black, pink, brown red or green background. Jasperwarewas originally developed by Josiah Wedgwood during the mid-1700’s. The Wedgwoodpottery was one of the most far-thinking companies of its time, quick to takeadvantage of new decorating trends, notably, in this case, copies of piecesfound by early archeologists digging Greek and Roman ruins. Like any popularmaker, its products were quickly copied by other makers in both England andacross the Channel in Europe. Jasperware’s popularity has had its ups anddowns, but has never really been out of production since its invention.
