VINTAGE WORLD WAR II WW2 OIL ON CANVAS LISTED ARTIST GOLDSMITH BLACK AMERICANAwas painted by a ww2 american hero,went to his estate sale,couldnt afford his ww2 uniforms or art work or all his marksman medals even,he was well loved in the community but i was able to get this one item,great local peice,check the picsRobert L. Goldsmith, 99, passed away in 2018,, He was born May 22, 1917 in Conneaut, Ohio He graduated from high school in 1936 and worked for his father until being drafted into the United States Air Force in 1942. He then graduated from Armorer school at Lowry Field, Denver, Colo. before going to Aerial gunnery school in Las Vegas, Nev. Robert was assigned to the 385th H.B. Group, 550th squadron, as a ball turret gunner. He joined the 8th Air Force in England. Robert was shot down over Northern Germany while on his 8th mission on February 24, 1944. He was a Prisoner of War for 15 months in three different camps. After the war he went the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts
