DescriptionThis listing is for a black, ladie’s hair net, unused, in its original package. The hair net is fragile – made from very thin nylon thread, billed as “invisible”! It of course isn\'t really, as wearing one gave the hair a helmet look! It did keep the hair in place, though, before hair sprays came into use. Hair nets were very popular from the turn of the last century through the 1960’s. Ladies would style their hair once a week (or go to the beauty parlor and have it styled), then wear a hair net over the style for the rest of the week to keep it “fresh”. Hair nets were still being made in the 1970’s, but the majority of women had gone to hair spray by this time. The envelope is in good condition, with a few age spots visible on the back. The hair net is unused, still wrapped in tissue paper. The hair net originally cost 15 cents, and was made in the USA, and sold under the Flamingo brand. There is a very tiny bit of edge wear, and a small wear spot on the back at the edge. The envelope displays really well.
