Professionally and gently removed from an old elementary school gymnasium in favor of florescent lighting, (yucky), these HUGE lights are in excellent condition. As you probably know, 20 inch lights are next to impossible to find in numbers, and with a cage......never! (Well.....almost never,.... see above).
The shades can be brought down for cleaning. Simply remove the cage with the easy-to-use latch, remove the light bulb and twist the shade off, all done, that easy. Once down, the porcelain is sooo easy to clean, a bit of Windex and they\'ll shine like new.
These nice porcelain covered steel light fixtures are circa 1940\'s-1950\'s.
The porcelain shades were simply cleaned. They still have day-one shine. The mogul base sockets were cleaned, inspected and re-wired, readied for another 75 years of faithful service. I will include easily removable socket adapters so the buyer can choose to use standard, medium household bulbs, if desired. The very best of both worlds.
The lights can be displayed either with or without the cages. The cages simply unlatch for easy removal. They certainly add to the vintage look and old industrial lighting appeal. Some of the cages have a few old wire-repairs where spot welds broke.
The diameter of the shade is 20 inches. Without the cage, the light is 15 inches from the bottom rim to the top of the light where the down-rod screws in. The cage adds 2 more inches. From the bottom of the cage to the top of the hanger, is 30 inches, including the 12 inch down-rod. They are pictured with 12 inch black down-rods. These down-rods can be switched with 3 or 6 inch in either black or galvanized pipe free of charge.
The swivel hangers allow the lights to hang plumb, (vertical) even if your ceiling is not level, (horizontal) and also allows the lights to resist damage from accidental, (or purposeful), bumps and bruises.
The condition of these lights is far above average. Minimal chips may be seen around the light bulb or on the black rim. All are judged to be insignificant.
