What a rare find this is! It\'s a miniature ship (looks like a battleship?) with it\'s original rigging. It\'s very early, dating to before WWI - so 1895 to 1914 . It was made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany, famous for their wooden miniature toys. It was probably marked at some time, but the marking has worn away. It is a beautiful antique piece, with the most gorgeous patina (the antique look that items get over time). It surely has been in the water, and played with, but very gently. It still has it\'s original string rigging. In looking at warships and vessels online, it really looks like the pre-dreadnought ships, with their older style rigging, which helps date it. It is small, measuring 3 1/2" long. It is one of two that I have for sale. It is really charming, and has lots of age to it. You won\'t be disappointed in this little beauty! It would be wonderful as part of a Christmas Putz village.

For those that don\'t know, a Putz village is what the Christmas scenes that everyone displays under their trees each year is called. Putz is the German word for plaster, and most of the antique pieces were plaster or composition (which has plaster in it), and the name has stuck.

Erzgebirge has been home to folk artisan families for generations, and make the most wonderful miniature toys and toys sets. Their antique pieces are highly prized by collectors because of their charm.
