VINTAGE HAWAII CRUISE SHIP SS LURLINE MENU COVER
\"ALOHA … UNIVERSAL WORD\" BY ARTIST EUGENE SAVAGE
Menu Dated: May 27, 1953One of a series of Lurline menu covers by artist Eugene Savage,
of which this is one, now hangs in the Smithsonian Institute as a permanent display.
Savage had an international reputation as a muralist and sculptor, chose the theme
of Hawaiian pageantry after spending three months in Hawaii making a multitude of sketches,
color notes, historical, botanical, geological, and kindred research studies.His finished murals, from which this nine-color lithographed piece was made, are eight feet wide
by four feet high. The menu covers also were given the Certificate of Excellence, the highest
possible award, at the 1950 Printing for Commerce Exhibit at the American Institute of Graphic Arts.This exotic piece would look stunning matted and framed.Artist\'s signature appears on the lower left corner of the image (back).Overall Menu Dimensions: 21\" Wide (opened) x 10 1/2\" Wide (folded) x Height: 13 3/4\"

Very good vintage condition overall. Nine-color image is very vibrant, with no fading. No tears or repairs.
This menu has never been framed, and has been safely stored flat, away from sunlight.
From a smoke-free Environment.Light wear along the fold, and on the white margins top and bottom.
Slight bends at the corners. Off white paper has browned a little from age,
especially in a small area 1/4\" wide by 1 1/2\" in length (at top near the center fold).
Most of the browning would be hidden if the piece were matted and framed.ITEM PHOTOS
