TONE VIGELAND STERLING AND AGATE PENDANT NECKLACE FROM THE 1960\'S. BOLD, SPECTACULAR, MID CENTURY MODERNIST DESIGN.This is a unique version of the pendant necklace in her Rose Series.It is marked with the maker\'s mark\"Tone Vigeland Plus Fredrikstad Norway\".The agate moves around gently within the rose form. The two discs bend up like rose petals tacked with two small connectors top and bottom. The chain is 28\" long and the drop on the neck is approximately 14\". It is a rollo style chain, original to the pendant and also a work of art. The diameter of the sterling rose pendant is about 1 3/8\" x .5\". The striped, marble, agate ball form is approximately .75\" x.75\".
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Tone Vigeland, born in 1938 in Oslo, is a Norwegian silversmith, daughter of the artist Per Vigeland and internaitonally know for both jewelry and metal-based clothing design. Vigeland is a graduate of Norway\'s National college of Art and Design (1955-1957) and the Oslo Yrkesskole (1957). In 1959, she was taken on as an apprentice silversmith at the Plus Applied Arts Center in Fredrikstad, Norway and worked alongside Erling Christoffersen and Anna Greta Eker. There she rose from apprentice, to journeyman, to master smith and by 1962 started her own independent workshop. Her relationship with Plus continued for a number of years after and Plus did continue to produce her designs into the sixties. Since the early 1980\'s, Vigeland has been creating unique avant-garde art jewelry that has gained her a worldwide reputation and a presence in many museum collections.
