For your consideration, this Wonderful, Large, Detailed, Finely and Heavily Handcrafted Vintage Mexican Sterling Silver and Niello Double-Sided Keychain. One side of the fob has a beautifully carved intricate Mayan Calendar, the other a figural scene, with a man attempting to pull a stubborn burro along.
The entire piece, hanging upright from the chain, measures approximately 3 and 15/16 inches high. The fob/pendant portion alone measures approximately 1 and 3/8 inches high, bale ring included, by about 1 and 1/8 inches wide, and just over approximately 1/8 of an inch thick. (I have included a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) I found no legible content marks, nor signatures, but this keychain acid tests as solid Sterling silver. Weight is approximately 19.2 grams.
This keychain is in pretty good vintage condition, but will have the expected scratches, dings, and patina from age and normal use. The hinged, locking ring portion works as designed, securely closing and holding keys. There are small acid tests marks, one on the side of the fob, one on the side of the ring, both of which can be polished away, if you choose. This is a handmade item, which will not be machine-perfect in any way. I have polished this, but it will need further attention if you wish to remove every trace of tarnish. Please forgive the reflections of the camera and tripod in the photographs. A luxurious and very attractive keychain. Wonderfully handcrafted. Sterling silver made useful every day, while elevating the mundane to art. A great vintage piece.
